Mega Man Dual Override Dual Override Robot Masters
Eight portraits, twenty-four areas, and one fan-designed suction arm still in waiting.
Dual Override keeps the classic Mega Man promise: eight Robot Masters, a 3-by-3 select screen, stolen weapons, then whatever waits behind Dr. Wily’s name. Capcom has only fully revealed Twinkle Girl. The rest of the grid is silhouettes, replica hints, and a contest. This page records the rules so later reveals have a place to land.
Pair it with Beat Twinkle Girl for the one complete route, and with the contest recap for the fan slot.
The three-area template
Each Robot Master is a set, not a single tunnel. Area 1 is a new giant enemy. Area 2 is a replica Robot Master from an older game, tagged with R. Area 3 is the new boss. Each area has Bolts, a results screen, and its own checkpointing. Twinkle Girl proved the template with Big Press Don, Astro Man R, and Twinkle Girl herself. Capcom Germany’s livestream also ranked the three slices: Area 1 is the easiest, Area 2 steps up, and Area 3 is the hardest, with the Robot Master waiting at the end.
That means Dual Override’s “eight bosses” line undercounts what you will actually fight. You are signing up for mid-bosses and history exams on the way to each new face. Capcom’s official site even teases that some Robot Masters are returning from previous games. The R replicas are that tease made concrete.
Whether every portrait follows Twinkle Girl’s 1-2-3 pattern is the thing to watch. If the next reveal uses it, you can plan a campaign of twenty-four areas before credits. If not, she was the demo-friendly version.

Replicas and series history
Astro Man R’s animations tracking Mega Man 8 is a statement. Dual Override wants classic muscle memory inside a new engine. The R naming recalls other Mega Man revivals, but these replicas also have new attacks. You cannot sleepwalk a 1996 pattern and expect a medal.
If later areas bring more R bosses, Dual Override becomes a greatest-hits midterm. That is catnip for the long-time fans Ikuta named as the core audience. New players can still finish because Custom Chips exist. The difficulty options page is how this wiki talks about that ladder without pretending a story Easy mode is already announced.
Contest slot
Capcom asked fans to design a Robot Master with a giant suction arm. Voting produced six finalists. One grand prize becomes a real boss. Excellence awards get credits. Mixing this robot with Twinkle Girl is wrong. She is Capcom-original. The suction arm is the community original.
Until a winner is named, treat the eighth portrait as reserved. The contest page holds dates and rules so this roster page can stay about combat structure.
How to prepare without a full grid
You can still train. Learn three-area pacing on Twinkle Girl. Learn to save Override for Area 3. Learn to spend an E-Tank on Area 2 if that keeps being the spike. Learn Special Weapons as a loop even while names are missing.
Mega Man is the body the grid was demoed with. Proto Man will run the same portraits with a different kit. The select screen does not care who you are. The Characters hub is the family tree; this page is the exam list.
When 2027 arrives, this roster should read like a completed chart instead of a warning label. Until then, it is honest about empty cells.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers pulled from Capcom's 2026 previews and official notes.
How many Robot Masters are in Dual Override?
Eight new portraits, plus extra mid-bosses and R replicas inside their areas. Only Twinkle Girl is fully revealed.
What does the R suffix mean?
A replica of an older Robot Master. Twinkle Girl's Area 2 uses Astro Man R from Mega Man 8, with extra attacks on top of the original patterns.
Is the contest winner one of the eight?
Yes. Capcom reserved a suction-arm slot for a fan design. Details on the contest page.
Will there be a weakness chart?
After more weapons are named. This wiki will not invent one. Follow Twinkle Girl and the news hub.
Do Proto Man and Mega Man share the grid?
Official materials present one campaign with two heroes. There is no announced second select screen.
